Unforgiven

Year: 2013
Country: Japan

Plot: Just as Clint Eastwood's star-making spaghetti Western A Fistful of Dollars was inspired by Akira Kurosawa's Yojimbo, Japanese-Korean filmmaker Sang-il Lee (Villain) has decided to reinterpret Eastwood's Oscar®-winning Unforgiven as a Japanese period film. Set in the late 1800s, after the fall of Shogunate Japan, onetime assassin Jubee Kamata (Oscar® nominee Ken Watanabe -- Inception, The Last Samurai) lives in seclusion on a small farm. But when the new government begins harassing the local populace, Jubee is forced to break the promise he made to his dead wife and take up the sword once more.Yurusarezarumono (Unforgiven 2013) is inspired by the Oscar won film in 1992. The background of this film is taken place on the dawn of the Meijin Era in 1880. Jubei Kamata, a former samurai under the Edo Shogunate, has to hide his present from the government forces. Over 10 years, he seems not to take the sword. However, he has to break the oath to his wife when the government starts to pester the civil. Once again, he faces with the hypocrites under the cloak of justice.
